Choquequirao (“Cuna de oro= Golden Cradle”), also called the “Lost City”, was discovered in the 18th century by a French explorer and ever since has fascinated the explorers of later centuries. It was also visited by Hiram Bingham before discovering Machu Picchu. Great and mysterious, this abandoned city has many things in common with Machu Picchu and there are several theories regarding its activity. However, its value is thanks to COPESCO (body in charge of tourism in Peru).
